Oil on Canvas, 16″x 20″

I painted this for the cover of the new academic book I wrote, entitled Oscillations of Literary Theory: The Paranoid Imperative and Queer Reparative (SUNY Press, 2016). The painting is one of the first I’ve done without a photographic or live reference. In fact, the image came to me in a dream, already as a painting, and so I tried to reproduce it in my mind’s eye. It resonates with the Alberta prairies, where I grew up.
